Hey!!
Can someone tell me if i'm in fairyland here or is this possible... Funds are tight at the mo and i'm dying for a twin exhaust system - so is it possible to buy a 2nd hand stock exhaust and modify my own twin system? cutting & welding is not a problem although my knowledge of the workings of an exhaust system is limited... Any help is appreciated - Thanks!!! |

To be fair you won't make the flow any worse than the twin systems on the market already.

It's probably going to be fairly hard work but I doubt it'll cause any major problems with running. May be worth keeping an eye out for 2nd hand twin exhaust systems. they do come up from time to time.

Could you elaborate on that please, my knowledge of exhaust system design and theory is limited to 2 Strokes?

I think he was suggesting that most of the existing 2 can systems for the SV650 on the market don't seem to pay much attention to flow/performance and instead focus on aesthetics and sound.

How heavy would the twin ( stock ) system be??
By all accounts stock cans are vastly heavier than any alternatives. |

Well yeah but you wouldn't use stock CANS... just modify the stock pipework and use some random race cans.
Stock pipework isn't that heavy, certainly not the massive weight difference between stock and aftermarket can.

Why make it 2-2? You wont really benefit in any way I can see and weight will be increased.

Looks is only reason.
If there were a proper performance twin system then it'd still be largely pointless as the SV at full chat isn't flowing enough gas to really need a second can.
