Default What! You Never Seen A Biker In The Rain?

So I was riding home tonight (M5, M4) and I hit the rain as soon as I left Weston Super Mud. I'm talking real crazy wet, standing water every where and massive spray. After about a half hour I'm soaked through and decide to stop at the services near 'Nam to change gloves and see if me phone still works.

As I'm walking in I feel people noticing me, but I ignore it as all I want to do is get to the hand dryer. So I change gloves, suit up to leave and as I get to the door I catch the eye of some guy running in from the rain. His eyes seamed to say "I've just run the 10 meters from my car like a girl cause it raining and your going back out in this?". Well yes, yes I am.

I saddle up and think to myself about the situation; this is what we do, why don't cagers understand this? And I ride off, back into the crazy wet.

Some of the best rides are like that.

I love riding in the pouring rain, odd I know.

I like it when we get bad weather and I ride to work... Everyone else says "You ride in this? You must get soaked!" Actually, no, I'm waterproof, you'll get wetter on the way to the car

I still ride this time of year. And people do look and comment regular, but you are right - Its what we do.

RIDE ON...

That reminds me of the run home from the Glencoe Massacre, that was seriously torrential, motorway, not ideal. Then about 15 of us stop for petrol and head into the little chef or whatever it was for a slap up breakfast, everyone bedraggled and dying for a brew. Lol the looks we got when getting waterproofs on outside after, people clearly thinking "what? they're only just putting them on????"

Chasing a trio of lunatics on a 996 (1 rider, 1 pillion, one soggy sheep), with the SV's throttle pinned to the stop, head on the clocks and MYC flat against my back. 100 odd mph with full luggage and 20 ft visibility. Was a laugh.

The bike goes out in all weathers... apart from snow or if it's really icy. Having said that if it's raining when I set out to work I do ponder using the car as there is nowhere to hang up my waterproofs. Don't care about rain on the way home.

It hammered down most of the way to my girlfriends Saturday morning. My first longish ride and I loved it, I like riding in the rain, the gap between performance of me and other bikes seems to disappear. Once had great fun chasing Pete and Lissa through Norfolk countryside in torrential rain
