Having been looking for a RS50 for about a month or so some of the ones that I’ve seen on line I’ve had to let go due to the distance involved. I really don’t want to ride an abused 50cc bike a couple of hundred miles, so it got me thinking, transportation.
Yep I could get one of those firms that advertise on eBay to deliver it for £100 or I could rent a trailer for the day for £40. But the more I think about it the more having my own form of transportation seams like a good idea as I have seen other bikes that I would have bought if it wasn’t for the distance and logistic problems they present. Plus it would be useful to have something down here to help out other around as Stretchie has been talking about trailering his bikes to the AR and I’ve been thinking about getting a MX bike for a bit as well. So what would our options be? A van wouldn’t be possible as it would cost too much to run for only occasional use, so a trailer would be the way to go. However the only trailers I’m seeing are £250+ and for something that I’m not going to use that often I would budget for around £100 as after all I’m not after anything fancy. A simple single bike trailer would be more than adequate; basically a channel for the bike to sit in and an axel in the middle to take one bike would work fine. So any suggestions on where to find one or feel free to suggest an alternative. One of the MX boys in the office showed me these, and while they look the part for an off roader I’m not sure if a bike coated in expensive plastics would be safe on one. Your help please? |

Don't know if it's any use to you but I just spotted this ad on motoforum:
Hello, I have a single bike trailer for sale, in very good condition. Blue with ramp, suspension and two good tyres. £150 and will need collecting from Swindon. Cheers |

How difficult is it to load and unload a bike from one?
Also would you stick a RS50 on the back? And finally, do the wheels overhang the width of the vehicle, if so how is it to cope with? |

Your offer of services is noted, you may be called upon...
However, bike transportation will more then likely be required on a number of occasions, and would be used for bikes that cannot be ridden on the road which is why I'm after a trailer or similar. |
