Default Looking For A CD...

I'm after a CD(s) of a particular band. Easy you'd think, unfortunately not. The problem is HMV hasn't heard of them, eBay only has one piece of vinyl listed and Amazon is mainly out of stock or getting into the realms of silly money.

The reason for my difficulty it would appear is four fold: they are no longer around, they got their break in the 90's, and they never made it over here, they are Australian. If you're wondering the name of the band is This Is Serious Mum. But before you go googling them, they are NSFW so there.

Where can I get a CD from a band like this?

You could always contact your local radio-station for advice.

I'd imagine they might either suggest a source or even might put out a plea over the airwaves on your behalf.

Of course you'd have to come up with a suitable back story like 'it was one of the tracks at the school dance where I first met my wife to be and asked her to dance' that kind of thing.

Find a band member on facebook and send a message explaining the problem. See if they can help.

Any idea what label they were signed to? Sometimes you have to go to the main company for a result. However having been in this situation myself, I know how frustrating it can be to track down a rare album.

If you can buy it on Vinyl, then just record it to your PC as an MP3 file. That is how we made special recordings of rare Vinyl stuff for the radio shows. The way we did it was to run it through a mixer before transferring to the IMac to ensure correct levels and reduce hiss and static noise. However, to remove it completely is remove some of the qualities of vinyl that we know and love. Sadly, we stopped when the cartridge broke on the turntable. As soon as we can find a new one, we shall continue.

Cheers all for the suggestions. Don't know who they were signed to and I don't think they are still around so going direct might be a problem. Local radio is a good suggestion but there ain't any round here who play music. As for the digital suggestion, not my thing, though I do back up my CD's I just prefer the real thing call me old fashioned.

And I was going to say I don't know anyone over there but then:

If its not to much trouble to ask I'd appreciate it, "The White Albun", "Machiavelli and the Four Seasons", and "www.tism.w@nker.com" are the one's I'd particularly like, thats even if they are still available, if not I'd take any really.
