Default Fitted new exhaust, is this how it’s meant to be or do I have a problem?

Hay everyone!

So I received my new Blue Flame exhaust in the week and finally got round to fitting it… cut off the old pipe and then fitted the new one… I am looking at the new can and it seems to be pointing away from the bike, not in line with the chasse and body work of the bike… is this how it is meant to be or is there something wrong?

Here are some images to try and explain…

thanks

Try twisting the link pipe if you know what i mean and this should move the angle of the can. HTH

I have tried that, it’s turned as much as it will allow with out the pillion foot rest getting in the way… Just looking at the exhaust and it seems that the pipe poking out of the end of the exhaust that goes over the link pipe isn’t totally straight couple of millimetre or so out

Have a chat with blue flame (or where you got it) and see what they suggest or wait and see who on here can help.

Mine does this too. Not blue flame but both exhausts I've had have pointed slightly to the right. No matter how much I twist the link pipe. Someone on here suggested cutting the header a little further down but I haven't got round to doing that.

No

Blueflame have a history of sending out the wrong link pipe's for Pointies, its well documented on the forum if you do a search for it you'll find a few threads on it.

Give them a call and explain the situation and I expect they'll send you another link pipe.

+1. I used to have a blueflame evo on mine. It always looked like it should have been closer to the bike.

I've since changed to a scorpion and it sits much nicer. I used the supplied link pipe from scorpion so can only assume this was the cause.

Would it help mounting the hanging strap on the inside of the pillion peg?

The strap should normaly be mounted on the inside of the peg hanger IIRC, but the can should naturally sit in the correct location, the strap is simply to support it's weight.

If you try to force the can in using the strap you will put everything under stress and things will crack, rivets will come loose etc. Providing the original exhaust was cut in the right place then is certainly looks like the link pipe is not correct.

This topic seems a good place to ask..... will a carb blue flame link pipe fit on an injection model? Or is the bore size different?
