Default Whiskey a go-go

So then, what's the best you've had, and what's your favourite tipple?

Me? I never have two consecutive bottles the same...

Probably the best I had was a rare Macallan Silver Jubilee 25 yo malt. Found it in a small bar/hotel in a small place in Scotland - Aultbea - they must have about 200 different whiskies on the shelf Great!!

Favourite? Don't know if I've found it yet but I had a bottle of Glenfiddich 15yo Solera Reserve which was rather scrummy (my notes say that it remains gentle & smooth to the bottom of the glass - oaky with fruity spices!). Close second is Glenmorangie Burgundy wood....mmmmmnice.

10 yo Laphroaig...
10 Year Old is an all-malt Scotch Whisky from the remote island of Islay in the Western Isles of Scotland. Laphroaig, pronounced "La-froyg", is a Gaelic word meaning "the beautiful hollow by the broad bay

You have to smell and tast it ... to be one with it... bloody good stuff.

Not strictly Whiskey but Southern Comfort is my poison of choice. Unfortunately they changed the recipe some years back (the % moved from 40 to 35, and yes I could taste the difference) and the older stuff tasted the best so all that means now is I drink double to make up

I'm also partial to a little Knob Creek. After one of the worst days of my life me and a housemate drank the bottle, and for about 10 minutes I was the happiest guy in the world. The down side was I had to go and worship afterwords and didn't sober up until the next night!

Had a bottle of Laphroaig - Those whiskies from Islay have their own special taste - quite peaty but scrummy - I found Ardbeg to be similar but a smoother and more rounded taste IMO. Get a bottle and you'll see what I mean. It's certainly a good one to enjoy towards the end of a Burns Night.

Can't abide the islay malts, too oily for me... Like drinking 3-in-1. Give me a Talisker (Skye)... It's a bit of a fierce taste, bit of the irish to it, absolutely gorgeous. My dad's a Macallan man, and keeps on getting really flash special reserves, some of those are brilliant.

Or, JD and coke, or Jamesons irish. I love Jamesons, it's another kick-in-the-teeth whisky. Or is it whiskey, since it's not scotch? Plus, they had Conny Bloom playing a harp in their adverts, so that gets plus marks

I went off dark spirits for several year thanks to southern comfort in my late teens. Drank about 1.5 litres and the meer smell of it there after turned my stomach severly! That was the proper 40% stuff.

I didnt realise it was now 35%
