As for the suggestion that she show up for registration and then sit about all day instead of being home and doing her work, well that just silly.

And if she went in for registration and then "bunked off" and went home and god forbid there was a firedrill or su=omesuch she'd get into a hell of a lot of crap for it.

If you're adult enought to choose to stay for further education and have been a good pupil then they should treat you with the respect an adult deserves and that includes allowing your own time managment and responsibility for signing in and out.

Amen!

I sort of agree with you here Neio, not everybody can't think for themselves and just follow orders. There are Army personnel out there in roles that require them to think, however my experience in combat with the British Army leaves me doubting the way the Army is going. No offence to you and this is not aimed at you at all, but a large majority of soldiers really shouldn't be in the Army.

'Be the Best', that is not really the appropriate slogan for the British Army any more.

Maria and Hazel - really sorry tha a sensible post, and some sensible answers, have been tainted by ignorant opinion of both the situation and little Miss A*, rather that fact.

The best thing to do is contact the scool and DCSF, as others have already said (and if you need inside help I can put you in touch with the right person - we do a lot of work with them, particularly on the 16 + side)

As the law stands (and it will change soon, although not kick in for a while - I've been working on the Bill), compulsory schooling finished at the end of the academic year during which the young person turns 16. Schools offering 6th form ought to have sensible arrangements to cater for their 16-18 year olds. Technically, although they are on full-time in learning they only need to attend lessons and any other contact time such as tutorials. Anything else is probably a local rule implemented by the school or the local authority.

Um, what does the last sentence mean? 16 what?

Judging by your signature, I take it you don't teach English Language or Typing?

And, just for the record, I agree with Neio. Rules are there to be obeyed. Period. Get used to it. He could have been a bit more polite about it though.

Yeah. She thought she only had to attend her actual lessons, not from 9am to 3pm. She first had knowledge of this 3 days ago.
