I'd say not worth it unless you fancy a project... and the spare engine's a goer can you cull the list?
  • Carbs - ?
  • Wiring Loom (new) ?
  • Rear Caliper - ?
  • Front Brake Lines -?
  • Throttle Cables - consumable
  • Choke Cable - consumable
  • Swing Arm (if a clean shows anything up) - ?
  • Sub Frame (can you say rusty?) - paint it....
  • Full Frame Powder Coat - tart

I'd say pull it to bits and see what you can get away with leaving off and still have a runner.

That or give it to me

This'll sound like a joke, but with the number of parts there the most economic way to sort that one would be to buy another one and use it as a donor. Dead serious- a lot of carbed SVs are worth more in parts now than complete.

Well as my lovely suzy is coming back to me, I'd say if you love the bike a lot then go for it, but I will say that cause I've just rebuilt mine...coughs....chris rebuilt mine. Its cost me an absolute arm and a leg, really has, and I really don't care cause i love that bike to pieces. Yes I have another that I could donored from or vice versa, but, they're both decent.
She is never going to be a minter, shes still got a lot of warts, but, my budget couldn't stretch to full on bling mobile.

Oh and its just cost me around about a grand to put her back to....not as rusty.

A grand, but please note it could have been done FAR cheaper.

yes..sorry luv, that wasn't how much the basic rebuild cost, it was the bling bits, and new shocks front and rear etc. Chris was paid a very reasonable amount, but TBH his services were worth a lot more, as she was an absolute cow to dismantle......oh and the calipers...now thats another time consuming event

Thanks for the replies. I consider myself mechanically (in)competent so will be doing all the work myself with the occasional help of the MoFo Mechanical Expedition (guys thats a hint). So that why I'm not costing labor.

Thanks for the links and the prices. There are also some PM heading back soon. But now to answer some spesifics...

Now thats funny. I have been practicing dismounts on this bike so thats part of the reason. But the current engine is Foobar, plus there is a lot of wear due to the millage.

Yep, they've escaped (mostly). Though if I do rebuild I have a second phase headlight idea.

Would it surprise you if I tell you your not the first one to make that comparison?
