Re: Magic Roundabout
There is a similar setup in High Wycombe - the central roundabout is much longer tho so its not so terrifying

Re: Magic Roundabout
T'was easy to navigate, i had to do it on my test, i got asked to go straight across from Fleming way (fire station/town centre end) to Queens drive (ambulance station end), i just took the left hand lane and skirted round the outside of all the mini roundabouts and passed the football ground it was mentioned back at the test centre, i think secretly he admired me for my ingenuity

Re: Magic Roundabout
But sometimes "the beginners line" is actually the quickest way because everyone just points at where they want to go and end up queuing on the more direct routes.
It's fine actually, every town should have one. |

Re: Magic Roundabout
Hehehe. Junctions so complicated that the thick have to avoid them. Great idea
Maybe there could just be pub-quiz-like questions at toll booths |

Re: Magic Roundabout
Ah the magic roundabout. Used to use it every day on my commute to work, going out was easy I could orbit the outer ring (as it were) but my return would send me straight through the middle (so to speak). So on the way home I would just close my eyes and open the throttle.
Generally speaking it was all fine, it’s not as complicated as you might imagine, provided you treat each roundabout separately. As Swindon is the land of the mini roundabout you get used to them. The biggest problem as ever is people who do not know how to use a roundabout safely; they get up to it and stop, each and every time this causes traffic chaos. But then what do I care I’m on a bike. |

Re: Magic Roundabout
OMG I've never seen anything like this!!! Is there a particular reason why each of the mini roundabouts are a different size??
I feel dizzy just looking at it |
