Yes Kawasaki and Suzuki "helped" each other for a while but that agreement was disolved around 2008.

Judging by the state of my Versys, Suzuki showed Kawasaki how to make bikes that dissolve in water. My first SV650, a naked K3, survived three winters better than my Versys has survived just one, and that SV lived outside and was ridden 50 miles a day in every kind of weather imaginable.

Next time one of you SV owners thinks about moaning about corrosion, spare a thought for us poor Versys owners and the long list of parts that Mr Kawasaki is going to have to replace under warranty before the 2 years is up, some of them for the second or third time.

The early Z750 suffers from the same too. I thought the Versys would be better than that as the ER6's seem well made

Aye my K6 sv 650 took the salt and corrosion really well but my kawasaki ninja was furry after just 3 months and the the v-strom was made of absolute cheese and had both crankcase covers replaced in 11 months due to corrosion. So i've gone honda now to see if they fair any better.
