What's faulty? You've got something cheap, light and stiff enough. More stiffness is not always good

its definately cut and shut, I bought a later ally one by mistake as steel would have been easier to splice the curvy onto it, but hopefully one of the welders at work might be able to do something if I ask nicely

The fault is it's F'ugly. Suzuki stopped designing the SV at the swing arm, I would like to fix it.

And Mr. Squid, please, we've talked about this, there is another bike first in the line...

I have looked at both the curvy and pointy swing arms and to be honest, the curvy one is prettier with the groove down the side.

However, I do feel that with a bit of polish it can be made to look sweet, if funky shapes are your thing, why not go down the route of deep bracing? The modification should be simple enough and will add a degree of character to the otherwise clean and simple swing arm. Once finished and highly polished, I am pretty sure that it would look the dogs danglies.

If you want to go completely wild, you could go for bracing at both top and bottom, but this would worry me due to my hugger getting in the way or it hitting the sub frame if not done low enough.

By doing this, one could have the bracing join a centre section that could also shield the shock from road spray, however I strongly suspect that the only benefit of such a modification would be cosmetic.

Now if only I knew a local welder who can do aluminium sexiness and not ruin an otherwise fine swing arm.
