Well I've just been chatting to a very helpful Bluefishman, we suspect the valves may be round the wrong way. Cheers mate. Looks like a call to the builders tomorrow...

And yes I have tried turning it off and on again, I even tried it with a stern look, but that didn't work either.

Valves the wrong way? Are they not just open and close?

I've had similar issues on mine when trying to turn off a rad. By having it fully closed, the others tend not to warm up all the way down. Thus a balancing issue.

These days the valve direction doesn't matter, balancing is always a fine art, you turn down one and it forces water through a second only to find the original no longer heats up.

Oh yes it does Tim, what you mean is the valves can be fitted on either the flow or the return, but the valve has to be set to work with the way the water is flowing, most do anyhow. We will have to wait and see when some one has actually been and checked SH's system till we know for sure what the problem is.

Update time... They've done something. Not sure what though. Judging by the little clues around the house I'd say they have had most of the radiators off of the walls at some point.

The ones that were a problem seam to be heating up more evenly, but things were not as warm as I thought they'd be, the main radiator was far cooler than before. However I did notice that one of the bathroom radiators wasn't warm at the top, so I went round bleeding them all, followed by refilling the water pressure in the system. Will give it some time to settle down and report back tomorrow where I hopefully will have some information as to the problem.

In other news if anyone does have a curvy reg rec, do let me know as SH2 needs one.

From my personal experience SQH and you know how mechanical I am, don't waste your time balancing rads, bleeding or equalising or any of that old tosh. Work some overtime at night earn extra money and pay a plumber a price to sort it out. While he's doing it, go for a ride on your bike.

As you are single the plumber wont be rummaging through your birds knicker drawer for souvenirs which is what they usually do. Unless you pick a gay one in which case count yer pants before you leave them alone in the house.
