I believe I'm right in saying that hole is a drain hole to allow water which may gather in the plug recess to drain away. Well worth keeping it clear if you don't want the top half of the plugs sitting in a pool of water during wet weather.

Cam cover gasket is leaking.

Look at gasket, how do you think spark plug tunnel is connected in there. Gasket has a ring around plug tunnel, otherwise plug would get full of oil.

However if it is just a tiny amount, I'd probably ignore it.

well it was a bit burnt onto only one side of the plug and a small dribble out of the hole, probably reached about 5-6mm in length. is it a big job changing the gasket there?

You would probably find it cures it to remove and replace with a light spot of sealant.

You need to take lowers off, push rad forward, remove horn, remove cover, sort gasket and replace.

No, it is just like procedure for checking valve clearance. Oh and as well as list above you may need to pull fairings from mountings.

To make it really easy remove the upper tupperware and the radiator.

To avoid work in future, check the valves while you're there.
