If you want to go on track then its usually full leathers, but from last years day they were allowing textiles. I think its common sense. You're not going to be allowed on the track in shorts and a t-shirt. As for doing the assessed road ride so long as its legal then it shouldn't be an issue, however I doubt very much that the police will ride with you if you have paired your legal requirement of a helmet with just a leopard print thong.

If in any doubt contact Castle Combe or the BikeSafe team, both in my experience are very helpful. Out of interest what kit do you intend to ride the BikeSafe in?

Just my regular kit:

- RST Slice Textiles (with connecting zip)
- full face helmet
- Spada boots
- recently got a back protector I'm slowly getting used to

And my Black Curvy.

Thanks for the info, I'll give them a call.
Just need to sort out the baffle for my can as its a bit noisy.

Cheers

If you do get in contact with them, could you let me know what they say about what you can wear on track?
Cheers

The info on CC website for motorcycle TRACK DAYS states:

Quote:

Motorcycle Track Days
  • Bikes. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure that their bike is in a safe condition to ride at high speed on the circuit for the duration of the activity. Bikes must be over 250cc, be able to meet MOT requirements and meet our sound regulations at all times.
  • Helmets. Must be to ACU or MCRCB required specification either carrying the ACU official stamp or to comply with BS6658 or ECE Regulation 22-05.
  • Leathers. All participants must wear ACU or MCRCB recommended leathers. Two piece leathers must zip together. Boots and gloves must be of leather construction and carry no metal studs.
  • Back protectors. It is strongly recommended that additional back protectors be worn whilst on the circuit.
  • Riders. Riders must be over 18 years old and hold a Full Motorcycle Licence.
  • Riding Standards. Every rider must sign an indemnity prior to using the circuit and attend the compulsory briefing. Prior to going on circuit riders will need to display their identity wristband and session sticker.
  • New to Track riders or those new to Castle Combe must complete the opening sessions following a Circuit instructor.
  • The usage of timing equipment, pacing or racing is strictly forbidden.
  • Where possible, any alarms or immobilisers must be set so as to allow unimpeded use of the bike whilst on the circuit.
  • Build on your speed slowly, warm your tyres with a couple of medium speed laps, pay particular attention on the opening laps to the left hand sections at The Esses, Bobbies and Bybroook.
  • Whilst the circuit is fully approved for motorcycle use, riders take part at their own risk both to themselves and their machines.
  • Riders will be carefully monitored throughout the day by our experienced marshalling team. If we consider you are riding dangerously, you will be black flagged and asked to leave the circuit.
Not sure if this applies to bikesafe though, so best to double check with them prior to attending I'd say.

I bought myself some leathers anyway this month as I felt it was worth getting a set for future exploits

you usually can, as i did loads of trackdays while i was restricted, but that was a couple of years ago now. so it's probably worth ringing up the company you're booking with to check with them first that you shall be fine to go ahead with it etc.

I was always told you have a full license, its just restricted.

Phone up and check to be sure. However for the BikeSafe I doubt it would be a problem but check with the BikeSafe team as well.

You will have to show your license to the Police for BikeSafe along with insurance, MOT, and tax disc as it wouldn't be fair to them if they take you out for a ride and you're not legal.
