Just had a thought (please no jokes). What bulbs are you running? Silly as it sounds but the standard ones are easily replaced with more powerful UK bulbs. The down side is the electrical system can't cope, I found this working on a NC29 a couple of years back. The only problem is I don't have a book of lies in front of me to tell you the standard bulb spec and the type they can be replaced for, but its something to consider...

Hmmm, I'll ask in a bit as I'm off to get the fork now. I'll also check out the book of lies (it's your book isn't it?) and see what that says. It's firing up no problem now but I'll still leave it on charge til we're hopefully ready to go later!

What I meant was I don't have an electric copy in front of me. Good luck getting it all back together in time.

It's true, he is gifted in this way, or 'in THE way'....

Feel free to call me a loser but for my 2p duff batteries can do this. Sitting there all night it can gather together enough oomf to start it, but just after a ride, if it can't store much charge, it can be pretty dead. Testing the charging system/RR is pretty easy so once that's ruled out (either fixed or OK) then what you're describing would be the battery. Duff ones can play all sorts of havoc be it poor sparking while cranking the engine, or timing/ECU hiccups. The fact the bike starts off jump leads doesn't tell you anything, it could have a dead battery and no charging system, because it's going to run entirely off the jump leads. Bottom line is, be sure what you're paying for, just sounds wrong to me. I'm not into replacing stuff willy, yea, verily, and also, nilly, but I reckon it's the battery.

Re. the fuelling, hard to say of course but could be all sorts of things as YC said earlier, if it's that rich at tickover I'd expect it to be a bit hard to start when warm. You mean you don't like spitting flames at following cars?

Well, went to Weston tonight...rode there with lights off, put them on about 10 mins out of Weston after being on the road for about 90 minutes. Had to stop a few times on the way, started no problem. At Weston, started fine...in fact, started fine all night, even after being ridden up the A420 with high beam on most of the time and having to stop for a very nice policeman!

So.....looking forward to getting it to Elliotts in the morning as they'll just check it all for me. They've got a reg rec and a battery ready for it if needed, so I'll only buy what I need to replace.

Thanks for all your help guys
