No I made a bracket out of aluminium that went between the yoke and ignition barrel. Basically a triangle with the shape of the ignition barrel cut out the bottom.

Thanks

I might see if I can do the same.

Have wondering if this will do the same job?

Have a look at your ignition barrel first. From memory it's quite an odd shape that had to be cut out.

Still can't leave it alone.

This headlight was annoying me. I didn't really like the shape of it from the side.

So a couple of months ago I got hold of this rather nice Lucas replica of the type fitted to many Brit bikes of the 50's and 60's. I also took the opportunity to fit these rather snazzy metal bodied indicators in place of the £8 a pair self-dismantling plastic ones I had on before.

The headlight had the 1 5/8 inch hole in the top for the ammeter that used to be commonly fitted. That's not a common size for gauges these days so I took a dremel to it and widened it to 52mm. I've had a bad experience with an ammeter in the past so I decided a voltmeter would tell me what I needed to know (and voltmeter wiring is simplicity itself).

I picked up this cheapo voltmeter off fleabay. The body was a bit deep and came into conflict with the light unit, so I had to "modify" it somewhat to make it fit (by which I mean, I took a big chunk out the back of the case with a grinding wheel) .

No more reg/rec surprises for me.

Much happier with this headlight. Looks the part I think.
