Just picked pu my curvy SV
![]() Just wondering, where's the best bit of the rev-range to be in. I had a long road back at Nation Speed Limits or thereabouts and was sitting most of the time around 5-6k. What about town riding? The transition sppeds in the manual seem very low. Oh and is it definitely 6 gears? Can't seem to remember hitting 6th. Thanks all |

Definately 6 gears :P
You need to be in the 8000 / 9000 rpm range to get maximum enjoyment, occassionally creeeping up to the red line. occassionally means at every chance in this case ![]() |

I tend to sit at about 6-7 on normal roads but use up to 9 or so and change gear.

I'll either bimble at around 4-5, ride normally between 4 and 8, or thrash it all over, entirely depending on my mood. One of the nicest rides I ever had was coming back from the borders with no tip on my gear lever- it was really hard to shift, so I just stuck it in third for almost the whole journey home. Didn't break any speed records, but it's good to go slow sometimes.

I tend to stay around the 6 to 7 mark. Just out of intrest what sort of speed are people getting at 9000rpm in top?
Cheers Joe. |

For the record I like to live in the power band, 8,000 - Red line. But in the wet or when I'm taking it easy 4 - 7 its got usable power every where. |

oops sorry Sv1000 ![]() ![]() Just a question on 9thou and 160+. I've been "told/seen" that to get to 160+ you have to be on or above 10thou. And redline cuts in at 167? Have you changed the rear sprocket? |
