Default bad day with the sv650s

broke down yesterday morning ironically on my way to the garage.
sat waiting 2 hours for the AA for him to say oh i cant get it to start we will get you a truck will be another hour.
gets to the garage and woke up this morning ( very hungover ) to the mechanic telling me the starter clutch has gone and smshed something called a magneto?
and apparantly the oem parts will cost me around 200 and 300 and a new gasket for 12 quid... safe to say bad day

If those parts are needed, eBay will be a far cheaper source.

I have seen a starter clutch go before. I presume its stripped some teeth, just make sure they are all recovered from the sump...

Magneto?Whats that then?I seem to recall having one of those to provide sparks on a (very)old BSA about a century ago.

Anyway, you might be able to source the bits from a blown engine that has done its crank.
