Refused solvent sale. Halfords. - SV650.org

So I went to halfords today to attempt to purchase some air intake cleaner, so picked up a can of Air intake and Carburettor cleaner, take it to the counter, now bear in mind I'm a 17 year old with a full bike license and dressed in head to toe motorcycle gear, I'd of thought it would be pretty obvious I would be using this on my bike...which was parked outside. So the halfords "qualified technician"

scans the item and asks for my ID so I give it over, thinking it must be to stop 16 year old's buying stuff like this and going out in the car park and sniffing the whole can in one sitting (I live in Swindon so this is understandable). Then get told you have to be 18 to buy it and they wouldn't sell it to me!!!

Now is it just me or is that completely ridiculous? Forgive the poorly worded rant but just felt this was stupid considering the circumstances.

Its a solvent. Same restriction as knives, have to be over 18 even if you are a chef in training.

I'm 27 and still get ID'd for drink. I feel your pain. Or rather, I felt your pain... 10 years ago. You have a lot more pain to endure. Get used to it

btw, stay away from costcutters

I've just turned 43 and because I'm young looking I still get id'd buying alcohol, being young looking sucks.

The stupid thing is you can legally buy much worse stuff at 16...
