A bit obscure perhaps but, George Mallory on Everest in 1924 because I believe he was the first man to climb Everest and I think he died on the way down not goin up making him first one to summit.

Or, and this is preferential, to fill the shoes of any scientist who has just discovered something truley fundemental to our understanding of life, or has just realised the importance of a discovery of some compound he/she has developed.

or, just a tourist that happens to be standing on a grassy knoll in November 1963 near a book depository (gun in hand...the perfect crime!)
or, the first homonid *snigger* to create fire
or, Odysseus in his wooden horse knowing he'd got one over the trojans
or that chinese man that stop the tanks advancing on Tienemen Square

The chinese student in Tienanmen was called wang wie lin, he stopped the tanks with a shopping bag and load of guts, he dissapeared shortly after and is rumoured to have been tortured to death. Brave man.
