Anything can be made to fit, and it has been done before. But if it was straight forward then there would be lots of info on the forums on how its done and if the motor will fit.

Have a look on the Svrider forum as I can't remember anyone doing it on this side of the pond.

What would the benefits be? I think a cbr900 motor go's into a cbr400 and cbr600 but with a lot of work and then the only benefit is having a very fast bike that doesn't look it. The sv1000 into a 650 does not have this benefit. You may as well put sv650 stickers on a standard 1000?

Yes it can be done but we're talking about a fair bit of cutting and fabrication of the frame. Assuming all goes well you have now replaced the motor, leaving you with a 100HP bike with quite basic suspension & brakes. My suggestion would then be a front end swap, something with decent calipers and cartridge forks. An SV1000 front end would be a fairly easy transplant.... You'll want a custom shock to suit as well...

It can be done but my personal opinion is it takes a huge effort to fix the thing that least requires attention on this bike. And when TLs and SV1000s can be had for good money all you're going to do is put huge effort into making a less good one of those, which no one wil buy off you for what you consider a fair price.

Sounds like "triggers broom" syndrome! Same brush 20years just had 10 new heads and 10 new handles

Change the motor, change the frame, change the suspension, why not whilst your at it change the bodywork. Hey presto!

Just need to change the logbook now for your donor sv1000 one.

The CBR600 Jelly Mold engine is what is traditionally used for the CBR400. Both NC23 and NC29 models require modification to fit. From when I last looked at it for the NC23 you need to cut the front engine mounts from the frame and move them further along before re-welding. The Fireblade engine has been known to fit the NC29 model, but I'm not sure of the modifications that were required.

Either way its best to consider it a re-framing exercise than and engine transplant as you would require other parts to make it work.

That said, go for it why not. Something to do. Coming back to the original question there has been some recent discussion on the subject here that might help.
