Re: Too many computer passwords
Well, NOT: Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd at number 88-90, Hatton Garden
although if they've just been done, the law of averages says it shouldn't happen again soon?

Re: Too many computer passwords
I remember the work login and my email password. For Websites I just reset every time with the "forgot password" thing.

Re: Too many computer passwords
I keep an encrypted file (with a strong password) on my memory stick. It contains a list of sites with reminders like, "T..q....b....f..99". So I can work out what I used but someone looking over my shoulder wouldn't get much information. From time to time I back up my memory stick including this file.
Keith. P.S. Thequickbrownfox99 is not one of my passwords. |

Re: Too many computer passwords
I would recommend a good password management tool like 1Pass or Roboform. If you choose one set it up with 2 factor auth using something like Google Authenticator.
Happy to advise if you need, just PM. |

I've found the best thing is to think of a vaguely related sentence that can be used for all. So something like "Why does Google always need one more password?" Alternating upper and lower case and swapping the number for a digit gives you WdGaN1Mp which is pretty much unguessable. Change the G for an F for Facebook or T for Twitter or whatever and you have a really easy way of creating and remembering really secure and easily remembered passwords. I'd love to say it was my idea. Sadly not though, I think it was mentioned on a techy programme of some sort, probably Click. |
