Re: SVBMX Build Thread (99 SV650)
It's nice that. Love the headlight dragged right back into the forks. Not at all easy to do.

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Hi, excellent thread and beautiful bike. You can see the time and effort what has gone into it! Do you have any links for the headlamp?
Thanks Ryan |

Re: SVBMX Build Thread
Right... So yesterday i finally got round to fitting the bandit 1200 rear wheel to the SV
Below shows all the parts i had to buy, modify or make (have made) to fit the wheel. And a couple of setup photos I used a 81 GSX1100 sprocket carrier as its the same 6 stud fitment as the bandit but reduced depth which has aligned the wheel nicely and saved having to shave anymore off of the brake caliper carrier than needed. A custom sprocket. Bandit 6 stud fitment but 525 spacing and 44 tooth to match the original sv sprocket. Custom spacers. In hindsight, i would have had the left spacer made slightly different (remove smaller diameter section) as i later realised i could purchase wheel bearings to size down to the sv axle diameter. As far as dimensions are concerned, ive lost my initial notes and forgot to re-measure the spacers before i fit them!! But i plan on having both wheels off the bike after xmas to be blasted/powder coated so will make a note of the dimensions then. The wheel bearing that saved me making an axle/bearing adapter. Bearing code 6303-2RS. Only replaced the bearing on the drive side as my spacer dealt with the other. I may alter the spacer and fit the other bearing next time the wheel is out though. The brake caliper carrier. This required 5mm taking off to align correctly with the disc. And i felt it best to stick on a fresh DID chain Then it was time to bolt it all together First i sourced (from around the workshop!) some sprocket bolts, nuts and washers. These were the shortest bolts i could find but still had to use a washer on each to gap to the threads. I used some high strength threadlock on the nuts as i didnt have some split washers to use. These were all cleaned before fitting. Sprocket bolted to carrier/wheel with spacer in place. Spacer allows for around 3mm clearance to swingarm to make for good chain alignment. Brake side shown here, spacer and carrier in place. A nice and tight fit I should also mention that the stock bandit disc is a straight swap for the sv one with regards to fitment. The tyre also got changed for something i found at the back of the workshop with a bit more tread! I did want to fit a 60 profile but gonna see how it feels with the 55 to begin with. Now to fit rest. Chain on, chain guard and front sprocket cover... DONE! Everything aligns and spins lovely with zero rubbing on the pads. And some of the workshop and other bikes because the old mans always got something interesting on the go! And a couple more of the SV after getting it home. The tail is sitting a tiny bit higher than i would like at the mo but ive got a couple of adjustments i can make to amend that. And still plenty to do over the winter period, exhaust off / polished and custom rad guard to name a couple. But overall, really happy with it so far
