Default Cheap ways to get into racing? Club racing? Mini twins? etc.?

So is there realistically a cheap way to get into racing these days? I kinda get the jist that minitwins was set up to be affordable racing etc. but then now there's a lot of politics and it sounds like the best funded racers seem to win over the common man most of the time.

Just pondering about it all... if there is a cheap-ish race series which is reasonably easy to get into (i.e. an ACU licence and a membership fee, then your bike and your own running costs and that's all) then I'd be well interested for next year maybez.

Plz feel free to copy in any relevant links for this sort of thing ta

I've gone with Preston dmc who use 3 sisters. It's possibly cheapest entries in country, I know some one will come on and slag track off but its cheap and great fun. I also joined and raced at Aintree which is a lot faster track but still reasonably priced. I'm in pre injection and rookie unlimited on a 97 srad 600. I wanted to go mini twin but I already owned my srad. As it was only worth about £800 I couldn't sort a minitwin for that so I stuck with it after watching a couple of meetings at 3 sisters. Any old carbed 600 is eligable. Early steel frame cbr's are mega popular due to there cost and have their own class. Aintree pre inj is unlimited so includes old R1's so its a tough one there. Get yourself down to 3 sisters this weekend spectate. It's a double do, sat and sun. I won't be there this time as we've just had a premature baby on Monday!

Test day also on Fri but maybe quiet if weather poor especially with 2 days racing to follow. It will open your eyes to what people can and will race! I think Aintree are also racing Saturday if you want to see both tracks in action. Aintree not as good for spectators as you don't have access to fastest bits of track(and its dearer to get in).

There's a 20% minimum talent allowance in most series. Are you sure you meet this lowly percentage?

A couple of years back I started seriously looking into a cheap way of racing and found FAB-Racing, check out the Moto Team series. The team got as close as driving to collect an Aprilia RS50 but the truck broke down. Shortly after life got in the way and the idea was filed under "Would have been fun".

3 sisters would be ideal for your 'dual' cos its such a short track Binky might get a full lap in without his bike falling apart!

About £15 annual membership, £75 to race one class plus£10 per extra class. You get 2 races per class plus morning practice. Think max of 3 classes can be entered. I do 2 and I am well tired. Test days are £30 per 2hr session, open pit lane, as many sessions as you like. Don't forget acu licence aswell and transponder hire if you don't have one.
