Hi - newbie here, been trying out a k3 trackbike towards end of the season and so far so good!
Changing front sprocket and Haynes has 145N.m, seems very high? My cbr600 is only 55, wanted to check before going ahead over the weekend Thanks |

i'm lazy and just windygun off and on again. TBH i dont think it really needs that amount of torque as long as there is a lock washer. most of the torque setting are likely suzuki going by book settings for thread.
the only thing i ever torque properly are critical things like engine/casing bolts. |

Like Bibio I just wiz mine up snug with a gun. On a track bike where you will be changing sprockets reasonably often, or at least checking things over regularly there is no need to go mad doing it up super tight.

Front sprocket nuts come in 2 flavours: FT and rusted on, or rattling loose and held on by the tab washer.

The old one (previous owner) was barely hand tight and only held on by tab washer, bit of a shock when tackling it with my extension bar ! Also appears to have a 525 chain on 520 sprockets - However all will be sorted soon.

I've done them up to torque and I've done them up with the windy gun and had them come loose. Tab washers are important.
