That's weird, for the first time ever I was asked to take off my lid inside the store last week in a coop / texaco station. Never had it before that and it really bugged me, after I took it off the guy wouldn't look at me, clearly embarrassed he had to ask.

Surprised it's not been mentioned but isn't the whole point for their protection as they can't see your face and you wouldn't be captured on CCTV if you went in and robbed the place? I can understand this as someone could be on a nicked bike and without a mugshot they'd have very little chance of getting cought!

Maybe but not as much a reaction if they asked muslim women to remove their burkas, but no worries because it would never happen, its far easier to ask bikers.

Always take it off unless using pay at pump.

I rarely bother taking mine off. They wouldn't ask me to take off a burka no?
Any I keep my lid on when filling to avoid petrol splashing back in my eyes. (Watched too much Ewan and thingy)
I might consider taking it off in the shop if asked, albeit I'd probably full back on the burka argument.

I once over the tannoy was told to remove my helmet.

So I did.

I filled up.

Then I put my helmet back on and went in to pay.

The cashier was somewhat confused.

I don't see how asking to remove a Burka or any religous wear can be reasonably compared to a crash helmet.

Ones pointless and serves no purpose at all, the other saves lives Rule should apply to both or neither in an sane world.

None whatsoever until they checked their tank stock and noticed they were down. It is the nature of the ninja to be a stealthy MoFo and not be seen or heard...
