Anybody got any tips on installing the little buggers?
My replacement engine didn't have them on, so I took them off my old one. Trouble is I can't get them in and have spit 2 O-rings trying. Off to get parts tomorrow to carry on, but some tips would be useful. To clarify I'm talking about parts 7 and 8 in your diagrams. |

if its just to keep the oring in place while fitting it use a bit of RRG or LM.

Na, its quite a tight fit. Not sure if its best to have the o-ring on the union or in the cylinder and not sure of the best way to then get the union in as the access is a bit restricted now the engines in the frame...

Grease, preferably rubber grease so as not to damage the 'O' ring.
Is the end of the pipe rounded? If yes then it might be easier to fit the 'O' ring to the engine first and then the pipe could be eased into it.

The pipe is straight at the end, I fitted the new o-ring to the pipe and with a little jiggling slipped them in. It would appear that the original o-rings I was trying to reuse were to old and tough to get in, the new ones were supple enough. It was then a false economy to try and reuse the originals and new ones were very much the order, just a shame they cost so much.
