Your local Suzuki dealer would be the best bet unless you're going to be doing interesting things with it...

However I think you might be better off investigating your problems before stripping the engine down as it can start to get expensive. What are your exact problems?

Don't they run the same size piston as the 'busa? Wouldn't those rings fit?

well its burning way too much oil at the moment seems to have lost some engine braking, valve clearances are a bit over due.
well started to vibrate a lot more than normal above 6k an box sounds a little whiny

If the rings are the same size as the pointy, I can get them discounted from a dealer

First of all I'd check the valve clearances and adjust where needed.

Then I'd do a compression and leakdown test.

Then I'd see what needs doing from those results before I'd be taking the heads off...

Might even balance the carbs while I'm in there. Change the plugs, the air filter etc. Whats the service history like?

Yup two head gaskets and the piston rings were £100 cheaper inc customs and postage I was amazed at the savings , even my buss pistons came from the us lol

No there a different heat tolerance and are smaller as the cylinders of the 'Busa are electroplated ally cylinders, SV has steel liners so the rings would bind on the cylinder as the steel expands more than the busa's, I think if I remember correctly lol

All info on clearance ect hear

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...t=Busa+pistons

Ps I ran Busa pistons with sv rings with .6thou skimmed off the bores of the sv cylinders with .7thou removed from the standard head gaskets to increase the compression

Will remember that for next time. However I never did tell you how much my pistons cost...

And like Barwel I ran Busa pistons with SV rings with the slight rebore. Not with the increased compression (well not yet anyway) but with a cam swap. Never did get it dyno'ed, must do it for the re-rebuild.
