Default Revised Photobucket

Anyone using it?

What do you think?

I answered an e-mail last year to be a beta tester for it and found it to be less than great, took ages to upload stuff, then it uploaded it to the base album instead of the album you were in when you seleted to upload things. Then problems with moving the picture to the right album, it would often time out and when it did all go through the album title showed the total amount of pics but when you went in to the album it would show as empty for ages.

I went back to normal Photobucket but now we have been forced in to the new version I'm finding it exatly the same as when it was beta.

Hopefully it's just a bit buggy, but it's currently not a patch on the old version for me, what are your findings?

Default Re: Revised Photobucket

They have switched off the old version which is a problem, though they are slowly fixing the lack of features in the new version that I used in the old. I'm still unsure what a library is or what a story is or why I would want that. Getting links is now a 3 click operation, though the copy does seem more reliable.

The biggest problem is they have gone for form over function. I've not delved into it but I can see it from a mile off. The code that runs the site has been rewritten and there is a lot more fancy stuff in it mainly relating to the display. The trouble is unless you have a powerful machine sat on photobuckets network it won't perform. I imagine that it has been tested, just not in the real world on real spec machines with customer levels of data transfer.

So in summary, I don't like the new version but can't do anything about it so am learning to live with it. And the development team shouldn't put this one on their CV's.

It sucks and I reported it sucks every time it questioned why I had not migrated.
Used it in preference to flickr but thats looking a better bet, though if dropbox can be used to embed pictures I'll use that because its not full of carp like the other two
