Default Exhaust clamp - look right? Pointy

Hi

I found a rusted and broken exhaust clamp (attached). I have swopped for a new one from wemoto and tightened it. Does this look right? I am not sure what they are supposed to do, other than tighten the end of a large pipe over a smaller one.

Its a Fuel can on a K5.

(black colour is just from electrical tape)

Thanks

Default Can clamp - look right?

Looks fine, just new and shiny against old and hagered.

Can't quite tell but looks like the bolt is in a different position to the last so maybe that's why it looks odd

Think you have the new bolt on the outside whereas as pyrouk says original was on the inside. If you turn the bracket over it should look tidier.

The original clamp that has rusted off is actually welded onto the back section of the pipe work. It just clamps the bigger pipe over the little one to seal the exhaust system. While it does obviously do a job if its rusted off and there are no exhaust gases escaping then chances are the pipe has rusted itself sealed tight together anyway. But there is no harm and as you have done in replacing it.
