Default What to do with Rust in my Caliper Piston Bore

Right I've pumped out a piston from a caliper of mine and have found rust in the bore between the piston seal and the dust seal. Obviously I need to get rid of that as I don't want it to contaminate the new piston and fluid.

So what would be the best way to do this without damaging anything, and is this ok to do as removing the rust will need something slightly abrasive, I was thinking Autosoul? After de-rusting it I would then clean up with a load of brake cleaner, but will the rust come back?
