Default How long can I expect my SV to last?

Now the Passat has racked up a massive 115 thou I got to wondering how long I can expect my SV engine to last.

And whats the highest recorded mileage (proven) for an SV on the org?

I'm sure someone once posted about a curiour type bloke in london that they met. His had over 200k on it and was on the original disc albeit they were 2mm thick.

There have been a couple that made it over 100k.

Not all of them were on their first engine, but the wear per mile is very dependant on the type of riding you do. I for instance commute through London for 150-200 miles a week minimum. I get sod all mileage out of front brake components, others get way more because the mileage is out of town....

Yep, most of us will never scratch the surface of the engine's lifespan, mine is on about 35K now and as strong as ever, stronger than most in fact Hardly run in. But that's not the only concern, bikes in general don't last all that well- suspension wears out, metal parts stick or corrode, exposed bearings fail if not tended to, electrical parts aren't always that good... With a bike like the SV, there'll be a point where it makes more sense to bin it and buy a new one than it does to keep servicing it- assuming you want to keep it in good shape that is. If you just want to run it into the ground, then that's not such a big issue.

Mine is on around 60k. The clutch needs changing and i've had one of the cam chain tensioners go tits up. Other than that, had no problems with it.

My clocks show 70,000 but not with the same engine (my bad).

My bike really shows the millage though. As for how long it will last so long as your not living on a building site then a lot more that 70. Me however, I'm starting to look around on eBay, and there are a few 0% offers out there at the moment...

Courier 00 SVS with 145000 km (?90,000 miles), wore out forks and front rotors. Ought to need something else soon?

I personally know two 100,000+ SVs on original motors, they've been serviced, (much of it by me), and had plenty of consumables but no significant repairs, (excluding one sizeable crash fix), in all their lives.
