Default Halfords 1/4 Drive Socket Set:

Just bought a Professional Range 1/4" drive socket set in the sale for 14.99. Needed a decent ratchet to go with my Snap-on sockets and it was cheaper to buy the set than just the wrench.(Apparently would have got cash back with a Quidco card!) Feels a good quality wrench so will have to see how it lasts?

I've been using a Halfords Pro 1/4 drive set for about 5 years and never had any complaints. It gets used quite a bit on bikes as well.

They're pretty good, but I've had one ratchet fail. I'd say it was overzealous torquing on my part, except for the fact that a second halfords ratchet that I had had no issue in undoing much tighter bolts.

You can just take them back though can't you? They should replace with no issues...

I'm a sucker for buying tools, and I rate halfords pro stuff, but when it comes to sockets I always buy the 6 sided ones that grip on the flats, never the 12 sided that only grip on the corners

Yep, bought this & a 3/8 drive set, as I needed a decent set of each. Absolute bargain

Had a Halfords Lifetime 1/2in drive set for years, no problems at all

I have one of these sets. Bought mine a year or more ago so it cost a bit more, but they are great for rideouts. However the other week the clasp on the case broke, must get round to taking it back, wonder if the life time guarantee covers the case...

They'll only replace it if you can prove it broke in normal use.

Try proving that with a ratchet - they'll just ask you to prove it wasn't using used to torque nuts to 90000ftlb

Halfords tools are crap. Halfords employees are useless. Halfords "lifetime" guarantee is worthless
