Default Insurance advice and moans

Getting some quotes for my new Fireblade.

I have said the bike is worth £3,000 but I sure i'd get a lot less if I crashed it an it was my fault.

Fully comp is £268.07, TPF&T is £187.46 both with MCE, both have riding other bikes, European cover and breakdown cover included. I have heard bad things about MCE but they are a lot cheaper than anyone else.

The excess is £500 so if I did crash it I am probably only going to get £1500, does this sound about right? I have never claimed before so I am not sure what kind of value you get.

Here is the moan, I paid £200 for the insurance on my SV in December, if I cancel my policy now I get a whopping...... wait for it.... £18 !!!!!!! WHAT A JOKE!! But it's ok, they can carry the policy onto the blade, will only cost £360.

Grrrrrrr

Personally I wouldn't touch MCE with a bargepole.

I have used them as a cover provider, but never had to put them to the test (claim). Their customer services stink. Far happier these days using Aviva though A-Quote (Don't go direct as far too expensive)

You could try Carole Nash, I insure my SV through them for £150 Fully comp. I am in my mid forties with a huge no claims bonus which obviously helps.

Carole Nash matched Drew's quote from MCE.

It also has an excess of £200 instead of £400.

Do an online quote with CN and wait for them to call you, or you call them and ask if they can do any better? Will they match?

Wouldn't touch MCE either I've had less then fantastic service from them many years ago and currently only hear bad things about them.

However I wouldn't deal with Swinton ever again either as they were worse then useless after my accident. They claimed to be an insurance company, they are not.

Call Carole Nash they will match it, with almost no excess to worry about, and insure it for more than its worth you can get more money in an accident.

Nooooooo, don't do it mate. They are the ones who robbed me and completly misell you insurance.

I'm with them now just until the policy ends to get my 1 years no claims and then I'm GONE..

They tell you stuff and the paperwork turns up wrong, and I don't just mean slightly wrong I mean REALLY wrong.

Then when you've spend 3 hours on the phones with the MCE Retarded monkeys who NEVER ring you back unless it's to ask for money and finally get the correct paperwork through you get a follow up call a few month later to ask you something like "Just a courtesy call can we do anything extra for you.. How is your Gixxer going"

I have a Blackbird, a HONDA BLACKBIRD... And the paperwork you sent me says that "Very sorry sir the computer shows otherwise." So then you have to go through everything again, they say you've got TPFT, no breakdown and no legal cover..

When the paperwork you have says that you do. They re-quote you giving a different price because the original quote you were misold was done with different details, like missing off the claim that you had the previous year... WITH THEM!!!

You getting the idea. Here is one last example, last Wednesday my bike died on me. I ring them up to take me home as it's completley dead. This is the conversation

MCE - "How far from home are you?"
Me - "About 12 miles"
MCE - "oooh that's lucky cos you only have local breakdown which covers you for about 12miles"
Me - "I hope you are joking, I should have full breakdown cover, road/rec/home and europe"
MCE - "Nope, defoo only have local"
Me - "WHO get's local cover??? Who?? What kind of person buys a bike and travels no more than 12-15 miles form their home?"

I would NEVER get local cover, it's not worth it, I bloody work 30 miles form where I live so that instantly would be out of the window..

M - Mulitple
C - Conning
E - Eeeeejits

I could think of another one but this is a family forum. In short

DON'T USE THAT BUNCH OF ROBBING, THEIVING, MIS-SELLING, REFUSING ANY ACCOUNTABLITY EVEN WHEN YOU PRESENT THEM WITH THE PAPERWORK THEY SENT YOU, BARSTEWARDS (I EVEN SENT THE DIRECTOR A COPY OF THE PROOF THAT THEY WERE IN THE WRONG AND AFTER WEEKS OF CHASING, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT RING YOU BACK, UP I GOT A MAIL SAYING 'THANK YOU FOR THE COPY OF THE PAPERWORK HIGHLIGHTING THE PROBLEM BUT WE WILL NOT BE HONOURING IT AND STICK TO OUR INITIAL REPLY)

P.S. I've still got that luggage rack for your nice shiney new bike

; )

P.P.S.

Can you tell I'm a bit bitter???
