Mine was doing this, strip the throttle cables out and use a cable oiler to flush and lube the cables.

While your under the tank give all the carb linkages a lube.

Once you have ruled out sticky cables check cable routing and tension as per haynes manual.

Mine used to be fine once warm and i think it was the heat from the engine loosening whatever crap was sticking the cables.

if its the cable sticking you probably need a new one just, I read that oiling them etc isnt good in the long run, However I dont understand this 8k rpm thing, do you rev it that much then let go and it stays there, or does it go to 8 on its own?

i will check cables at the weekend, @ 8000rpm, i ride off and when i turn off the expressway the engine is still doing 8000 rpm when im pulling off from the junction, whatever rpm im doing on expressway it stayed at ever when physically throttled off

Sounds like you haven't got a throttle return cable on it. You should be able to manually override the spring return system by rolling the twistgrip forward.

The 2 cables work as push/pull, one opens the throttle and the other closes it, it's done as a safety system in case return springs break or it all gets sticky for some reason.
