Default Pointy Vs Curvy - riding differences?

I know theres an age old debate about which is best, and everybody's passionate about there machines

I was wondering though, whats the difference when riding? Can you expect a more responsive feel from the fuel injection on the pointys?

Iv got a 2001 curvy. Iv done 15,000 miles on it now (had 4k on when i got it). I do like it, but wondered if pointys are a nicer ride?

Iv never had the chance to take a ride on a pointy . Worth searchin about for a shop to take a test ride? Or are they very similar?

I am aware this may cause conflict haha.

Cheers guys

Test ride one and see what you think. And ignore 99% of what you hear about which is "better". All you need to know is which feels better to you.

Yea cheers mate. Just didnt want to go to the time out of blagging a test ride if they were really similar to ride haha. So was wondering what people who have ridden both think.

The seat on a pointy I find quite uncomfortable compared to a curvy. Everything else I think is about the same. To qualify that I've done a lot of miles on curvys but only about 40 or so on pointys.

I've ridden both, though way more miles on a curvy, I think SH's comments are about right.

Pointy: No faffing with the choke lever to start, quite like the instruments, seating position is different.

Curvy: Cheap, essentially the same bike in any way that matters, somehow I have managed to use a choke on all my bikes without my brain over-heating.

You may feel differently of course, but one thing I would say is I've ridden a number of different SVs, and they have all felt different. The youngest curvy SVs are now 12 years old meaning they almost all sport non-standard parts and have a wide range of feels depending on wear, maintenance, and setup. Factor that in if you're testing a curvy and pointy back to back.

I've ridden both, bars are slightly differently positioned, and the footpegs, but both point/squirt/handle the same i found.

Cheers guys.

Not enough to warrant a test ride to try the fuel injected engine then. I may well have a sit on a pointy though and see what i think . I might prefer it, who knows .

Yeah my curvys a 2001. So it is 13 years old now, although not done too many miles. I dont find my seat that comfy after a few miles (70 or so) so i doubt ill be impressed with the pointy one if thTs worse haha.

Ill find one to sit on though n see what i think

Cheers again .

I don't think it's worse, but it is different. Whether you prefer it or not will depend on you.

Ill give it a try. Cheers jambo .

I fancy a change, but love the sv engine and not sure i really need more power. It would be nice, yes. But more power means more chance of getting caught haha. I think the sv has enough for the road, aslong as its not a massive straight, i dont find many bikes leaving me far behind.

Apart from a multistrada that put me in my place once haha. Bloody fast, awesome sounding thing that was when it powered past.
