Halfords trade cards don't really get you much off a variety of the stock, but some things are well worth the form filling, stuff like some bulbs and filters. How do I know this? I work for them.

Discounts are actually pretty good.

Discount varies hugely depending on item.

Many car parts such as filters and wipe blades have around 70% off! Really is a good discount for stuff like that. Also usually get a fair bit off tools and cabinets and a good discount on the odds and sods in the little packs although there aren't much of them any more.

Also get a very good discount on car/bike bulbs as well as car batteries. Most motorbike stuff isn't discounted too mush however handy for things like brake fluid!

Know quite a lot about i as I've been working there for a number of years although I finish this Saturday

Prove to them I is trade.

Actually most trade car spares type places such as Unipart, General Traffic, Eurocar parts etc. the sort of people you see darting about town in vans to garages will give discount on list even for cash account customers. plus their parts prices are already lower than the halfords etc.

Pick up a few invoices from them and it is sufficient to prove your "in the trade". A trade qualification also helps, difficult as I have a mechanical engineering degree. But I did acquire a certificate of apprenticeship whilst I worked for Leyland Vehicles wrecking trucks and buses, which they accepted.

I do enough weekend work to sometimes go oh poo and have to nip out to the only place open locally. So then the card is useful.

Is it a Credit Card type thing or do you just falsh it and they take money off? Also do you have to renew it each year?

Thinking of getting one myself for the discount on tools...

It works well for tools, wiper blades, bulbs etc. Tools I can get plenty cheap. I got the 8-60NM Torque wrench £10 off

The good thing about Halfords tools are that they come with lifetime guarantee.
