Default Tooling

I'm looking for a recommendation regarding a set of spanners and a socket set that would be suitable for carrying out routine maintenance and services on the SV650.

I'm looking for a decent bargain not cheap and cheesy.

Cheers Org

Look at Halfords, good quality and good price if you can get it on offer. They do a 1/4" drive socket set that is a little beauty, this and a set of ratchet spanners is what I use mostly on the bike.
Facom Screwdrivers, set of 6 for under £30, v.good quality, better than halfords or stanley(which are poor now)

I keep one of these with me on any bike i ride, its small, fits in a reasonable sized pocket and does lots of things. Ideally suited for the SV's smaller bolts too.

I've a larger laser set, that was around £90 that does everything, but they no longer seem to stock this.

Toolstation also do a semi decent roll of spanners

Worth a look at both. I'd recommend a socket set covering 1/4, and 1/2 in drive, or 3/8 and 1/2 in drive as well. This should cover most of what you need.

I've had Halfords lifetime stuff for ages. Its good enough for my general use.

Buy it via Quidco using a credit card and get some cashback

Halfords Pro gets my vote as well, that's what I use in the most part. If you are starting off they do some good kits that are always on offer so just buy the biggest kit you can afford and then build your workshop from there.

What everyone else has said.

For torque wrenches spend the extra money on a good one. Teng do calibrated ones for not much more than a halfords one.
