Insurance is a game, where they try to get you to pay too much, then you try to pay as little as posible. I never take my renewal quote these days.

For instance, car renewal quote £370 got it for £280 from same firm via another broker! That saving practically paid for this year's bike insurance, which I got for £105 but the renewal was £141 from Carole Nash.....

Go figure!

I'm amazed you've gone for fully comp. It cost me £1200 TPFT when I was 18 for my CBR400 and that was with 2 yrs ncb.

Your better off with TPFT at that age as when you crash you would be able to repair the damage with the money you saved and the insurance company would be none the wiser.

They try to sell you at a price that is as high as possible to max their commision - don't fall for it.

Get your renewal letter, and give them a call, "Hey I got the renewal, is that your best price? I am not going to mess a round I am going to call a number of insurers and ask for their best prices in writing. I am not going to keep phoning back to see if you will reduce the premium, I am going to go for the lowest price. But as you are my current insurer and you have been OK for the past year I am going to give you the chance come up with a better price. Can you put it in writing to me?"
Then call god knows how many other companies, "No messing, I am not going to make a million calls or phone anyone twice, I want your BEST price please, if you don't give the best price, then I won't be back, and can you put it in writing to me?"
After doing the phoning thing and getting the prices go back to your favoured company and give them one chance to improve their price.

hey works well - Car insurance down from last years £600 to this years £380. Bike insurance down from £380 to £140. Did I get that right, is that really a £460 saving???

Just what my 21 yo daughter did with her car insurance. Got a couple of quotes off confused.com (top site for car insurance, pants for bikes) then called her current insurer. They beat the prices by £20 - netting her an £80 saving.

Always worth it IMO.

old age must be starting to pay off.
£230 fully comp - 3 yrs ncb - Motorcycle direct
They actually quoted me £300 renewal initially but then said to phone them as they might be able to beat it if I changed insurer ???
Which I did & no-one else could better them.
Plus when I put the new end can on they said there was no increase either.

you can do better than that....im 21. male. a few crashes.

price = £700 including:
legal, breakdown, 90 days greencard, £175 excess. 0 no claims bonus. comprehensive cover.

thought i'd done better with carol nash at £630 for the above...but they had quoted me tpft when i asked for comp....idiots

shop till you drop! i had no adverts in the biketrader left to call!

they are a broker. by phoning them again they can shop through the list of underwriters for a better price. whereas the renewal is the price from the current underwriter you have...normally goes up at renewal aswell!
