Yamaha Off Road Experience, Any one done it?

I didn't have any armour, but bought my own for the next time, though I've only used it a couple of times since.
I doubt you *need* it as its all on a fairly low speed course, but its your call.
Only one of our group had any, and no-one came to any harm.

A lot of these courses hire armour. Also look at trials riders, they don't seem to wear any, and certainly didn't years ago.

well did it today and now i offically want an MX bike, 250 is def enough to get you started.

It was awesome, every minute of it.

Well organised, they split us into 3 group and we each did a bit of practice and then got out on the big track in about 15min intervals. It was definetly worth the money, got lucky with the weather, nice and sunny.

Bikes were strage at first, its very different from riding on the road, the whole sitting right up on the front and sticking your foot down. It was good to get used to the back end sliding out. Managed to keep it shiny side up but had some pretty close shaves, bike tried to whip me off a few times, and bounce me off another. Others were not so lucky, one guy did a nasty endo/faceplant giving it too much front break on a downwards slope and had to go hospital, another did a twelve'clock and managed to land the bike on himself, and another crashed into the fence.

it really is knackering especially on your hands and ass, and towards the end i was staring to lose focus a bit as i was pretty tired, im feeling it now.

Biggest problem i had was getting used to the gears, specifcally changing up, with the boots on you struggle to find the gear lever as it is pretty small and needs a good whack to get up a gear, changing down was easy. the whole clutchless shifting took a bit of adjusting to as well.

overall 10/10.

Had a look at your photos in the other thread, very impressive air.

I've considered doing this myself. So, how did you find the teaching? Was it one on one or group based learning?

Also how did you find the kit?

yeah i would say do it if you have got the money, i would do it again. teaching was good, wasnt forced on you he said "if ur happy just riding around on the bike then thats fine and its up to you but if you want learn a bit about how to improve your riding then ill help you" , think the guy had been doing mx for about 40 years, racing and that. group based learning about 5-8 at a time.

kit was good, you get full gear including knee pads and elbow pads, you get some pretty basic gloves so that may be the only thing. obv it some of it smelt a bit (helmet) but it wasnt that bad.
