i change at 9.5k when trying to get around quickly. After that, the engine starts to run out of steam.

As for not going above 7, well the SV has fairly relaxed piston acceleration figures, so I wouldn't expect you are saving much in terms of engine life by keeping the revs down. It wont help it enough to make a noticable difference shall we say. If you dont like high revving bikes, perhaps a harley or a buell is more your thing?

You put a light upward pressure on the gear lever, then either momentarily roll off the throttle then pin it again, or keep it pinned right up to the limiter.

+1 ... Way easier and is second nature now. Tend to **** up gear changes if i use the clutch
