However, as far as I remember this isn't part of the MoT test so you won't get failed for it. In theory you could get a ticket for it, but you would really have to p*** Mr Plod off big-time (or have his wife riding pillion ![]() |

MOT test requires a proper retro-reflective unit
"Reflecting and Retroreflective tape must NOT be regarded as a substitute for an obligatory reflector." -Sec 1.4 MOT manual Plenty of stations will turn a blind eye but if you want to be 100% legit you need a proper one

I think Keith has answered the question though, and if I'm doing it I may as well do it legit. It will be very easy to make a bracket to hang the same reflector flush below the numberplate, so I'll just do that. Thanks for all the replies folks. |

Given the legal side of things (same deal here) I'd extend the tail tidy so that a 3"x1" rectangular reflector (might as well make it a useful size) can be bolted on at the bottom edge of the plate.
BTW, I'd be more inclined to cut, drill, grind and lighten the original part than to mess around with aluminium. |

Mot - needs a reflector, stuck over the company who made the plate im not sure how they go about that
Mot - number plate light, if no wiring or fixing it cant be tested so if its not there will not be part of MOT Law - you need to display the company who made the plate and a BS mark* *afaik Last edited by Holdup; 03-01-11 at 12:26 AM. |
