Hi Guys.
I think you nailed it. It was exactly the lights Whitty and Geodude showed. This is the exact paint job that I saw, and the bike in this picture is a CBR 400 Baby blade, so my guess is, that is what was. Did they do 600s aswell? ![]() Thanks for helping me out. I think the Honda CBR will be my first project, when I am ready for one. For now I am still trying to pick rictus01's brain and learn all I can from the org. |

Baby blade! My dad had been thinking about getting one recently, had a look at one. Nice bike, but if you dont want to pay silly money, they need cleaning up a bit. The tri arm are alot more saught after than gull arm too, and have a price to reflect that.

Some of the reasons I decided against it: They're now 25 years old & despite having a bullet proof engine (gear driven cams) they are going to be on the worn side! In the 20 years since I bought mine, I've put on a bit of weight & these are small bikes! They're not that cheap - around the same as a much younger SV650. Not that easy to find. On the plus point, the tri-arm is unrestricted, there's just a red light on the dash to tell you you're going too fast, unlike the later model. The round lights could definitely be from one of these. |

The Tri-Arm can be derestricted either by disassembling the clocks and removing the restriction or by fitting a KPH-MPH converter as that will lower the needle enough to not activate it. There is also two standard types of CDI the less powerful blue and the more powerful gold. Though off the top of my head I can't remember the exact numbers or effect if still running the bike in restricted mode. Quote:
As for price and availability there are lot around and varying prices. Roughly the same as an SV in my experience. Of course I could find a very cheap one, but you would get what you paid for, much like a SV... |

I'm sure mine wasn't restricted, and I don't mean it had been de-restricted. It's been a long time, and I can't remember the details now, but I'm sure that the Japanese 400s initially only had the warning light then sometime around 1989 were limited to 112 mph. Mine was a 1988 model, perhaps that explains it.
