Sarah Jordan, who raced a pointy with great success, seems to think otherwise.

Perhaps the greater ease of tuning the EFI bike? Easier to go to pod filters, relatively cheap to bore out the throttle bodies.

Search for some of zorans posts on SVrider, it's not like cost was a big factor in building his SVR and he used curvy frame. I'm sure there's a post by him on the matter which puts it in better terms.

Sarah seems to reckon the pointy chassis is more suited to racing as it feels more biased to that kind of thing.

Suzuki changed the frame because the curvy frame was the single most expensive motorcycle component they had ever produced. The manufacturing costs were horrific for a part like that. On a bike like an SV650, which is a budget bike, this didn't make sound economic sense so something needed to be changed. They didn't do bad really.

Personal taste chaps, just like suspension settings and riding styles.

I personally find the Curvy chassis more flexibly when pushed, offers a little more feel. However, this is on a track and the difference is negligible on the road.
