Fact that it is solid then not solid suggests something weird is going on, you cannot ship air in like that.
Trick with tying lever back overnight just lets the dust seal creep forward on pistons, it cannot actually remove air. take calipers apart again, check you've got the spring under the pads situated correctly, sometimes you can miss the tab and bend the spring when you put pressure on. Then try bleed system from banjo bolts as well. If it does not work you have my number I think

Once I have bled my brakes I always tie the bar back overnight with the res cap loose and it does work. Cant be dust seal movement as I dont use them.

Main seal then, those flexing is only reason i see that working, unless raised pressure causes air to dissolve, but like in diving dissolved gas reappears as soon as pressure is released.

I've had something similar on a ZXR400 and that was master cylinder, I'd be looking for an upgrade on eBay do you not fancy a GSXR master cylinder instead if a rebuild kit??

Badger, do you want me to see what SV brakes i have in the garage? After my gsxr swap?
Oh, I was thinking I must have a master cylinder left over - but now I think- I think I just used the SV one - Should have calipers, but sounds like that's not your problem ![]() |

I just assumed the constant high pressure forced air out of places normal air pressure couldnt escape from.

Just out of interest Badger, you say you put new lines on a fair while ago, and they were a biatch to bleed...are they Hel?
Reason I ask is, Matt bought some from Hel for the Raptor, and for the life in him and YC couldn't bleed the front ones for toffee.(the rear one is always a problem) There was some component that was the wrong fit, one minute it was ok, one minute not. Sure YC will remember it well. Is there a possibility there was a component in the new lines that wasn't correct and now its brought up a problem such as this. Needless to say, Matt rang them and they sent the correct bits needed, which by magic bled in the right way. Sure it was something to do with the pitch of the bolts thingies.

That was a defective part, banjo had a pronounced score in it which was leaking
But yes they c*cked up the bolt pitch too, or maybe it was a bleed nipple or something. But tht is obvious because it will not fit

Kinda had a similar experience. The bike felt really heavy. Had a look at the front callipers and found a stone. Put the callipers back on and it still felt really heavy to push. Took it to the mechanics, turned out it was my chain. it was 'as tight as a bowstring'. Got a new chain and all is good

Yes they are Hel Lines , the upright over the reservoir trick sounds like a good idea , I would be interested in trying another Master Cylinder alternative instead of a rebuild kit .
The system does bite properly and can haul the bike down from speed , just the lever travel itself is 50% before any bite occurs . I chatted with my mate who helped me fit these originally and he remembered that we could only get this done properly with a compressor , I am not sure if we drew air through the sytem using his compressor as a Vacuum with some old bleeding kits , or we had a jar and pumped it into the system . Gonna give that a whirl first and see what happens . Either way it`s a right sunuvabitch to bleed and something has not been right from the moment we fitted these HEL lines . Oh and a certain member messaged me with some drunken sh1te about giving people the wrong impression about SV650`s and I should not be bad mouthing my brakes and maybe I should sit down and have a talk with them ........ I came here to seek advice on something that is dangerous to my operation of my bike and if I feel fit to come on here and seek advice I will do . Last edited by xXBADGERXx; 14-02-10 at 05:18 PM. |
