It doesn't damage the gearbox if done properly. I've even heard that it does less damage. That is if done properly though, if it crunches, makes any nasty noises or jumps out its not good and is likely to have done (some) damage.

mint thread i didnt have a clue till this came up i thought you shouldnt go over 7000 till now, cant wait to get out and have a bash, but just to clear it up you mean dont change gear till i get to 9500 revs...?

Change where appropriate!

Sometimes I short-shift, sometimes I take it up to the redline, normally I change at ~10 when on the track.

On the road I change at 11.5 but that's cheating by using a V4

Agree with monsieur druid, change when appropriate but if you're gunning it the rev's posted are in the right region. Also exercise with caution, open too fast from standstill and you may have the front wheel up - can't blame the org if you drops it.
