(not that I'm taking it seriously but) I think anyone that knows you, knows that you've enjoyed enough miles on your SV for you to think that it's great bike for what it is.

I might try that, do you think it will work? I was just trying to clean up my brakes but I've got a seal popping out so can't put them back together without doing a proper service

LOL! were they being serious!?

...Hang on I hope it wasn't me

Feel your pain badger I'm currently trying to service some knackered gsxr calipers; one doesn't even have seals in so no pressure to force the pistons out with and the other does but they're shagged and I'm trying to force them out with a knackered old rd350 mastercylinder that I think is leaking and the cherry on the cake is the bolts to split the calipers are warped to feck. Good old ebay lucky dips...

(sorry for the derail just wanted to vent in a light hearted manner - nothing against gsxr's )

use a tyre compressor over the banjo hole. remember to aim at a bucket of water or inside said bucket. also if you put a strip of ply wood in the middle of the caliper when you are pumping out the pistons then the pistons wont come fully out and you can ease then out after you split the caliper.

The system does bite properly and can haul the bike down from speed , just the lever travel itself is 50% before any bite occurs . I chatted with my mate who helped me fit these originally and he remembered that we could only get this done properly with a compressor , I am not sure if we drew air through the sytem using his compressor as a Vacuum with some old bleeding kits , or we had a jar and pumped it into the system . Gonna give that a whirl first and see what happens . Either way it`s a right sunuvabitch to bleed and something has not been right from the moment we fitted these HEL lines .

xXBADGERXx - you say once it bites it's good but there's half a lever of movement before owt happens.
That would point to air in system NOT being the main problem or it would be VERY spongey once the half movement was used up?

Out of all of this I can actually return a tip to those with stuck pistons . Get a cable tie and wrap it around the piston and zip it up tight , you can then use a pipe wrench or Mole Grip to latch onto the Piston and try to rotate it out , if it`s stuck then spray a dab of ACF50 or Plusgas in there . It should come out with a few rotations . Once out you can remove the cable tie and there will be no damage to the piston where the seals go . There may be a little damage on the hollowed part which can be removed with a file but at least it won`t be a part that touches any seals .

Have you replaced all the fluid ? seem to remember that after a while it absorbs water and reduces efficiency ? Just a thought.

About half a litre of fluid has gone through this system over the last week with the various attempts . I used to buy tiny bottles when I bled my other bikes , since owning the SV I tend to buy it in bulk
