Nobody has asked me to remove my lid since I started wearing tiger
ears and tail. The cashiers just laugh and express their
appreciation.

I have been asked twice to remove my lid at two different garages. I do not use them anymore.

The last time the Manager tried to strike up an arguement with me about it. She said that they had had drive offs and as a result for security and to make her staff feel safe they insist on removing lids, hoodies, bb-caps etc. So I asked her if any biker had ever drove off or held up the station. She said no.

There is no justification to remove lids in stations and I will not take mine off.

To be honest I just feel it's very rude to keep your lid on and talk to someone, even it it's just to pay for fuel, so I always remove mine.

If someone was to ask me, rudely, to remove it for some reason I'd tell them to **** off though

I've only been asked once and that was before they would let me pump fuel. Put the nozzle back and rode off, next place wanted my money.

Personally the only problem as has been mentioned is if you have been asked rudely.

Lots of people have come with reasons why the object but IMO it's still just whinging about nothing. If you are in a hurry cos you are running late etc it not the garages' fault.

Jeez , quit whinging folks.

Cheers
Ben

And remember, if the guy in the shop is rude- no wonder, he works in a petrol station! You'd be rude too

The local garage to me does have a sticker in its window saying no helmets but I've never been asked to remove mine.

I just remembered, a while ago someone came into my branch still wearing his lid, dark visor down, the full deal... I had to go and ask him to remove it- it's not really what people want to see in a bank- and he gave me a load of attitude about how I was treating bikers like criminals I felt like nipping out and getting the bike, and running him over.

The garage i used to use gave ma a massive amout of hassle over it. it was always the same woman. "Don't you know it's ilegal to come in here with your helmet on" sadly since safeway has become morrisons there 24 hour garage has closed and that garage is the only one left open in the area that isn't pay at the pump ( i refuse to use them any more. 2 of them have eaten my card) so now i have no choice but to use this garage, and it's always the same woman, and she HATES me... Doesn't bother me though, still not taking ma lid off.

I object strongly to removing my helmet when I fill up. I will normally remove one glove to punch in my pin number or sign the ticket. If they dont want my custom, they wont get it again.

I have another pet hate with filling stations. As a truck driver I am required to either pay for my fuel in advance or have my card skimmed before they will turn on the pumps. This means I have to queue twice as trying to push to the front tends to upset motorists.

There is no evidence of truck drivers, doing drive offs! it is normally done by drug dealers in BMW or CHAV cars
