Badge, if its safe to ride and you fancy a ride bring it up to my place in Wallasey at the weekend. We'll get it boxed off once and for all.

Free tea on tap.

I think I`m gonna sell up mate , gonna strip the goodies off the bike and fit the clip-ons and original brake lines back on so will only have to go through a Bleed again . Might strip the goodies off this weekend and get them up on eBay . Just had enough of Sv ownership now and fancy something with a bit more welly .

Don't know if this will be helpful or even relevant now as I haven't read the whole thread.

I got my next door neighbour to help me first time I bled the brakes as he has done his R1 a million times with no problems. But we just couldn't get pressure at the lever with the SV following open/squeeze/close.

He phoned a mate and the mate told us
  • Close nipple
  • Pump lever rapidly
  • hold lever under pressure after last pump
  • open nipple which will bring the lever back to the bar
  • close nipple
  • release lever
  • repeat both sides until your sure there is no air in system
  • close nipple for the last time and pump lever again rapidly
  • tie wrap lever overnight with reservoir cap slightly loose
  • pump lever in morning
  • brakes now give good response and pressure at the lever
  • check fluid level and tighten reservoir cap

Disagree with this if you want, but nobody bother flaming me 'cos I openly admit that I don't know what I'm doing, but this worked for me, whereas open/squeeze/close wasn't, and I'd do it again this way next time.

I really don't know how people manage to make such big job of it, I fitted braided hoses to my bike while dizzyblonde was waiting at my house to go for ride out to Big Ds... sure they were fitted and working in 20 minutes or some other pit-stop styley time...

Aaaaah , one thing in all that Ralph , I`ve had my reservoir shut over night with cable tie on . Gonna pop it now and tie it back but I did try your "Aggressive" method as well . Was nice to it then I got Medieval on it . I`ll let you know if it works in the morning with the "Popped top" and cable tie .

Ok, well the offer still stands if you change your mind. We could have it done and dusted in 30 mins or so (including cuppas )

This is indeed true, in all fairness Chris does have a knack for doing brakes really easy and quickly. Hes replaced all fluid in my brakes with my son in that time asking him many questions, in a blink of an eye.....but then if its a straight forward job with no annoying complications it will be.

no... squeeze/open whilst still squeezing/close as lever reaches the bar, if you want to write it that way round

everyone else knew what I meant

This has been a horrendous job every time on my Sv , but never on any other bike I have owned and I have owned Yamaha/Cagiva/Honda/KTM .
