More or less...
4 I think, it depends on how you count. I also have a bad memory and have lost count (same story with the crashes). In my defense I have been badly paraphrased*. The original engine had to be rebuilt after running for too long while the bike was laying on its side. After that it blew again due to lack of oil. So an eBay job replaced that one. But that didn't last long either and this is where I discovered the oil pressure light not the oil level light. That engine was replaced. I may have blown that replacement one as well can't really remember (was my Uni days so I drank even more then I do now). The next engine was in the bike for a little while but I never got a good vibe from it, and lets face it I've had a few to measure against, so I replaced that one too. The last one I took out was still a runner and is sitting in my garage as a spare. It been there for about 2 years so no idea if it will still work. However the good news is the oil is usually checked and without tempting fate** the current engine has done around 30,000 miles... * Usually I manage to sound 'special' all by my self so it is a refreshing change to allow someone else the honor on my behalf. ** Well thats blown it (fanaar). I'm hoping for a few more miles before I need to check the spare still works, but frankly I expect a few other things will need looking at before then. |
